Jim Mastro... Here.
Jim Mastro has been a traveler since he was five years old. Although he had no choice during those early years (his step-father was in the military), he still enjoyed it, and it seemed to set up a need that will never be satisfied. His favorite destinations are Antarctica and the South Pacific, which may sound a little odd since they are complete opposites. Nonetheless, he has spent six years in the former (including two winters) and almost as much in the latter.
In a varied career, Jim has rescued wild dolphins, trained seals and sea lions, scuba-dived in the gloom under 15 feet of ice, done stand-up comedy, and directed plays. In addition to writing, he’s been a biologist, professional dancer, laboratory manager, college professor, drummer in a band, professional diver, research assistant, professional photographer, surfer, and water skier.
As a writer, he’s covered many subjects, including travel, science, natural history, human interest, scuba diving, the environment, writing, teaching, science fiction, and fantasy. Jim has published three books on Antarctica, a manual on scientific diving in Antarctica, a science fiction trilogy, and numerous articles and essays. He is currently working on two projects: the biography of an Antarctic scientist and a comedic fantasy novel.
